Lastly, this side is inscribed with the phrases “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “1 oz FINE SILVER DOLLAR”, “United states of America”, and the mintmark if indicated.
The United States Mint has produced a proof version and an uncirculated version along with the bullion version. The three mints were Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, and West Point Mint. Usually, the bullion coins have no mintmarks. Proof silver coins bear different mintmarks. The different mintmarks depend on the min where they are created. The uncirculated version was generally minted at West Point so these have a “W” mintmark but there are certain earlier cass that uncirculated coins bear the “s” mark.
